Next Event: HWY 61 on Friday, September 12 @ 7pm - see you there!
Chasing The Milky Way is a St. Louis-based band that plays a mix of classic rock and soul. With a focus on reimagined covers and originals, they are known for being a rotating bullpen of talented instrumentalists and vocalists.
Hannah Jobe
Vocals & Guitar
Hannah got her start singing in church. First solo at age 6. She plays a little guitar and a little piano. She was born in St. Louis and raised in Mississippi. She spent her 20s in Colorado. So a lot of growing up there, too. She sings backing vocals for Legynds 77 and Silver Bullet STL. And has been in several bands throughout the years. She says. “I love all genres of music but southern gospel holds a special place in my heart. I love my kids, my dog, and Jesus. Not necessarily in that order.”
Matt McCauley
Vocals & Keyboard
Matt McCauley was born and raised in Aurora, CO. First gig was an 8th grade dance. During the early 80's toured USA and Canada and was out for 300-330 days a year and opened for many national touring acts. Biggest influences on his playing are Billy Powell, Elton John, Leon Russell and Bill Payne. “I Love playing in this band because of the diverse set list” Matt says of Chasing The Milky Way. Along with Chasing The Milky Way, Matt plays in a local Lynyrd Skynyrd tribute band, a classic rock band and lends his talents as needed.
Bill Hamm
Drums
Bill is a drummer who's into rock, blues, jazz, Latin, and other sorts of "country" music. He was a long time member of the Brazilian percussion band ”Joia” and along with Chasing The Milky Way he plays with The Bedlam Brothers and Fun With Cats. As he likes to say, “I’m the guy in back no one can see.” We might not see you, but we can all feel your groove!
Connor Lynch
Lead Guitar
Connor Lynch was born in St. Louis, MO, and raised in Wenatchee, WA. He's been playing guitar for 10 years. He moved back to St. Louis for work and eventually started going to blues jams in the city, where he met lots of great people and musicians. When Rick invited him to join the group he was very excited. His biggest influences/inspirations on the guitar are Peter Green, Gary Moore, and Duane Allman.
Rick Brown
Bass Guitar
Rick Brown was a guitar player in “1967-The Band” before "Chasing The Milky Way." He took up bass after attending many open jams where there were dozens of great guitar players and only 1 or 2 bass players. One New Year’s Day, Rick, Bill, and Hannah were at an open jam and talked about forming a band that plays light, non-classic rock and Chasing The Milky Way was born. We recruited Matt and Connor, and eventually Steve, and the rest is history.
Steve Krenski
Guitar and Vocals
Steve Krenski has played guitar since age 12, playing in many local bands over the years, most recently Hot String Soup and the Main Street Remnants. Besides playing guitar in CTMW, he stays busy playing mandolin and lap steel guitar as well with Duhart, Geenahwind and the Housecats. Speaking of Chasing The Milky Way he says,"I love the variety and talent in this band!"
